Hollowed recesses punctuate the Yakisugi-charred beam wood along its height, producing shifting shadow as candlelight moves through them. White stone remnants placed at the base and crown give the tall form its anchor and its close.

The process begins with sourcing — salvaged beam wood, stone remnants carrying their own prior histories. The wood is treated by Yakisugi charring, then finished with natural oils and beeswax. Cork lines the base. Nothing synthetic enters at any stage.

The surface reads not as contrast but as convergence: near-black charred wood alongside pale stone, the seams between them dissolved. Light entering through the openings animates the piece as the hour changes.
