These two serigraphs were created circa 1950-1990. The most likely year of production is 1962. They were created at Phil Paradise's studio in Cambria, California. Paradise serigraph editions are limited--60 to 99 prints. The number on the print indicates the number in the count, not the date. His serigraphs contain as many as 32 runs of color. No pre-determined number of color runs was planned ahead. Phil made whatever number of runs that would achieve his intended result. He created the picture as he mae the color runs. The serigraphs are printed on the finest quality of laid cover stock. Each serigraph is 22" by 28".
My mother purchased this pair of serigraphs directly from Phil Paradise. She was a logally recognized artist and member of the Ogden Utah Palette Club. In the early Sixties, the Club invited Phil to a retreat in Ogden Canyon, where he conducted workshops for them. During this period, our family visited Phil at his studio at Greystone Manor in Cambria California. Whenever I met Phil, he impressed me as a fun and adventurous person. My mother admired his work and regard him as the master of the serigraph.
Phil Paradise (1905-1997) was President of the California Watercolor Society, the American Watercolor Club and the National Academy of Design.
