"Torqued Mandala #2" by Paul Wirhun, painted eggshell on wood, 2008. Wirhun is an artist who works with eggshells to create colorful, mosaic-like paintings. This painting is from a series that centers on the mandala - a spiritual symbol of the universe in Buddhism and Hinduism. Wirhun's mandalas are resplendent and meticulous compositions, bringing to mind his process which, like the mandala, can be seen as a kind of meditation.
