A stunning late 20th-century Chinese Famille Rose Medallion lidded porcelain ginger jar (or melon jar). This highly decorative piece features a double-sided design. One side showcases an intricately detailed courtyard scene with courtly figures framed inside a lobed cartouche. The reverse side features a fan-shaped cartouche framing delicate butterflies and floral sprigs, sitting above a traditional double-gourd motif.
The entire body and shoulder are covered in a dense, vibrant "Thousand Flowers" (Mille-fleurs) and "1000 Butterflies" pattern executed in rich polychrome overglaze enamels against a beautiful gold-ground field.
The jar comes complete with its original domed lid, which features matching floral details and a striking, solid gilt spear-head finial knob. The base retains its original vintage export stamps. A gorgeous, substantial statement piece perfect for a Chinoiserie chic interior, mantel display, or ginger jar collection.
