Oil painting by French painter Pierre Passani titled, The Departure of Ulysses. Ulysses, or Odysseus, is the hero of Homer's epic poem the Odyssey.
Pierre Passani trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and Lyon and has been working since the 1970's. His work bridges abstract and figurative styles and is influenced by the French school of Lyrical Abstraction. This painting is a part of a series returning to classical themes and inspired by European painting from the 17th – 19th centuries. His painting is often inspired by great literary texts and mythology, through a contemporary and personal lens.
