View of Palm Springs in 1950 as seen from the desert. Mountains tower in the background, minimizing the city and reminding us of our place within the natural landscape. Sunlight streams through clouds to spotlight a place carved from desert and rock by human ingenuity, reflecting the optimism and progress of 1950s America. It is inscribed on the back ‘Harold & Gladys Stover, September 15, 1951’. The work may have been a commission. This is one of the very best of Roy Robb’s works.
Roy M. Robb, (1888 - 1961) lived and worked in Laguna Beach, California and was an important figure in the Laguna Beach Art Community.
