Aerated concrete sculpture created by Robert Neuhauser in Switzerland around the mid-1980s.
Composed of a monolithic volume sculpted with hollows and edges, the piece develops a more angular geometry than the artist's stone or bronze works. The sloping planes and sharp breaks create a play of tension between stability and imbalance.
The slightly granular surface of the aerated concrete, punctuated with fine inclusions, contrasts with the precision of the carving. This more raw materiality reinforces the experimental dimension of the sculpture.
The work is part of Neuhauser's research into different materials, presented notably at the exhibition "Arbeiten in Stein" at the Sigristenkeller Gallery in Bülach in 1989.
Robert Neuhauser, born in Altnau, has developed a sculptural practice encompassing wood, stone, bronze, and concrete, with a constant focus on form and its perception.
