Directly from a German fine arts auction, this charming antique oil on board painting dates to the Biedermeier period, circa 1830. The portrait depicts a young girl with a playful, knowing expression, seated in an oversized red Biedermeier-style armchair. A detailed green embroidered fabric is draped over her arm, while her straw hat rests casually on the floor.
Painted in a beautiful folk or naïve style, this unique piece captures the whimsy of early 19th-century European portraiture. The artwork is housed in its original, elegantly carved wood gilt frame.
