Limited Edition Pierre Bonnard Lithograph. Size: 31 x 24cm. T: Boulevard. Sur les presses de Mourlot Frères, 1952. Paris. Lithograph in four tones: gray-green, gray-black, yellow, orange. Several paintings by Bonnard are inspired by the same theme. 100 copies printed. Some states in black. Two or three trial runs before adding a passer.
While the shaded foregrounds give passers-by an air of light ghosts, the trunks of the plane trees divide the fresco of shops dripping with sunlight like a stained glass window. The midday animation populates the roadway and the sidewalks with a passage of walkers, cyclists, riders, cabs.
