Designed in 1946 as his first commission for Knoll, this chair perfectly captures the transition from rigid pre-war furniture to the fluid sculptural forms that dominated the mid to late 20th century. It is a symbol of brilliant engineering.

The chair takes it's name from the resemblance to a grasshoppers rear legs. Despite the generous size of the chair, it maintains an open airy floating appearance. This chair is a classic that will never go out of style. Comfortable and beautiful.

This set would benefit from reupholstery. It was clearly reupholstered once in the past but the back shows damage to the fabric (see close up images). Although the chair is missing its original tags, marking on the legs are consistent with early Knoll production techniques.
