When painting, the artist wipes off her brush on a folded paper towel, before rinsing it and going to another color. Occasionally, she realizes when the towel is fully used, that the pattern and color of her wipes is of interest. Here, she uses one of these paper towels as her model, and the towel is included with the piece.
The artist was playing with the idea of change and movement in this abstract landscape. It was done in conjunction with another painting of hers, titled "Earth Elements." The two paintings are essentially a diptych, but can stand on their own. This acrylic painting is on gallery wrapped canvas. It is initialed on the front and signed on the back, and has a UV protective varnish. It is in a black wood floater frame with a narrow gold front edge, which is wired and ready to hang.
Laurie MacMillan has enjoyed numerous awards and solo exhibitions, and has had pieces selected for over a hundred juried group shows. Her work is held in personal and business collections across the U.S., and in Canada and England.
