The teak wood … Read more This beautiful antique daybed with its iconically shaped slatted teak canopy is a unique piece from Sumatra. The teak wood has been lightly bleached, revealing the stunning aged wood grain. With its clean lines, it exudes a minimalist style. We added a linen mattress to the bamboo base. Full dimensions; 74" wide x 47" deep x 74” high to the top of the posts. The pitch for the roof is 31" high. It’s all in the details. This daybed was hand made in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility.
