Most needlepoints are done in wool yarn; however, I don't believe the yarn in this one is wool because it has a slightly softer feel and seems fuzzier. The soft blue fringe around the pillow's edges is about an inch long. The backing fabric is creamy light beige with a satin stripes woven into the fabric (see close-up photo).

The back has a couple of small spots on it; water spot about an inch in diameter and a smaller spot inside the water spot about one eighth of an inch in diameter. Like many needlepoints, the pillow is not exactly 90 degrees at the corners (see photos).
