The Wassily Chair was designed by Marcel Breuer 1925-26 while he was the head of cabinetmaking at the Bauhaus in Dessau (Germany).
In the 1960s the chair was produced by the Italian company, Gavina, located in Bologna. In 1968 Knoll bought the Gavina group. Knoll still produces the Wassily chair until today. This chair features a tubular, chromed steel frame with brown leather upholstery. It also beards the designer's signature. The quality control tag underneath the seat indicates that it was produced by Gavina in the 1960s.
