The muscular figure is shown in dynamic tension, pulling back the bow with his cloak draped and shield at his side. This celebrated model, first created around 1715, is among Bousseau’s most recognized works.

This example is signed “J. Bousseau” on the base, unlike many unsigned “after Bousseau” casts that appear on the market. At 15.5 inches tall and weighing nearly 20 lbs, the casting is substantial, with finely defined details and a rich dark patina consistent with age.
