Item description:
A stunning square-sectioned single-flower vase in gilded bronze, with one of the four sides richly enamelled in pigeon blood red and decorated with mainly white floral motifs in an oriental style. The vase dates back to the early decades of the 20th century, between 1910 and 1920, and its beautiful patina confirms our dating. The object is made of bronze; in fact, when touched by another metal object, it emits a sound similar to that of a bell. The enamels used are of very high quality and the floral decorations, entirely handmade, are very beautiful. The vase is unsigned but can easily be attributed to Oriental artistic manufacturers, meaning it was made in China or Japan.
Useful information for evaluating the object:
A quick internet search has shown us that Chinese or Japanese bronze vases finished and decorated with enamels, similar to ours, are offered on other online sales platforms for art and antiques at prices ranging from €200-300 to €700-800, depending on the period in which the vase was made, its size, and the quality of the decorations and enamels used. Our vase is not particularly large, but it is of a high artistic standard and features high-quality pigeon blood red enamel, which is by far the most valuable and beautiful type of enamel.
