The idea of the work is based on a reinterpretation of the “Last Supper” by Leonardo Da Vinci. The idea was to generate forty place mats for one of Trobat's signature Artisan Dinner's, capable of being put back together again at the end of the event to show the work in its entirety, and thus represent the passage of time, solidity, abundance and union.
In “The first dinner” direct resources from the “Last Supper” are used, such as the feet of Jesus, the bread, the wine, the textures of the walls, the background landscape and the location of the central characters. At the same time, contemporary elements are included such as pieces of pizza, glasses of champagne, the hand of a waiter and other elements capable of being detected in the work.
