Made with hand-knotted wool in China circa 1960-1970, this 5x7 vintage dragon rug is from a rare and exciting new curation of pictorials in Rug & Kilim’s classics.
On the Design:
A soft gold field underscores a field of three dragons, all depicted soaring amidst clouds (meant to honor these mythological creatures as divine omens in traditional Chinese interpretations). Keen eyes will further admire the subtle details at work, from the notes of contrasting black and red and illustration of depth and dimension in the borders. Dragon rugs have always held a rich historical significance in the realm of animal rugs and pictorials and therefore, admirers of the craft will regard this vintage piece as a precious piece of culture as much as a regal, elegant collectible.
Condition:
This vintage rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.
