Panfilo nuvolone (cremona, 1581 - milan, 1651) still life oil on slate, without frame cm. 17 x 19.5 - with frame cm. 31.5 x 37.5 appraisals by professors sandro bellesi and giancarlo sestieri exhibitions: the painting was exhibited at the biaf (international antiques biennial of florence) 2022, and at the exhibition "tutti frutti: a fresh harvest on the classics" at the sainte anne gallery , paris, from 8 to 18 june 2023. Publications: caravaggio and his time, between naturalism and classicism, catalog of the exhibition curated by pierluigi carofano, in collaboration with tamara cini, mesagne (br), castello normanno svevo, 16 july - 8 december 2023, locorotondo editore, 2023, pp. 116, 117. Panfilo nuvolone, an italian painter active mainly in lombardy and emilia, was much appreciated for his experiments on still life. Nuvolone was in fact among the most charismatic artistic personalities in the lombard still life scene of the first half of the seventeenth century. Although nuvolone is primarily known as a figure painter, producing both altarpieces and sacred paintings, he was particularly notable for his prolific output of original still life compositions. The work present here, depicting two apples of different colors and a lemon placed on a rocky shelf, constitutes a small pictorial jewel. The fruit is represented in a very realistic way by the painter also because it constitutes an object of reflection on the study of the "natural". I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
