Elegant and commodious, here we have a rare example of Wegner’s celebrated GE-330/3A three seat sofa in carved teak frame … Read more Elegant and commodious, here we have a rare example of Wegner’s celebrated GE-330/3A three seat sofa in carved teak frame and light burgundy boiled wool upholstery with original spring back and seat cushions. This example remains in very good vintage condition, with signs of light wear and gentle use consistent with a vintage item.

Gorgeous attention to detail in the shaping of the frame, the union between the exaggerated arm supports and the back cushion they flank is particularly appealing. Woven cotton pad protects the seat cushions from contacting the springs which support the cushions. Independent seating frame in beech.

Stunning grain is revealed in the completely solid teak construction and sophisticated ergonomics to the seating stance overall a strong and attractive design consistent with the work of the 20th centuries greatest master of seating.

In his later work, Wegner would branch out and explore novel deign motifs, continuing to effortlessly blend a quintessentially Danish style with more international language—welcoming eastern influences as well as newer materials and forms. The partnership with Getama represents the refined and composed but still ambitious late style of this prodigious designer. Manufacturer’s mark to underside of stretcher. See less
